Velvet requires laboratory testing before hormone therapy. Your provider decides which tests and screenings are appropriate alongside the history and examination.

Hormone therapy has potential benefits and risks. The clinical decision belongs in a conversation about your history and the exact medication proposed.
"Individual" means the plan is reviewed. It never means risk-free.
01 Who is not enrolled at Velvet?
Velvet's published program excludes people with a personal history of any cancer, a known BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation, active or prior hormone-sensitive malignancy, or another condition the provider considers unsafe. These are Velvet program rules, not a universal eligibility test. Patients with these histories should continue hormone discussions with their oncologist or primary physician.
02 What does "bioidentical" tell me?
It describes a hormone's molecular structure; it does not by itself establish that a product is safer or more effective. FDA-approved bioidentical hormone options exist. Custom-compounded products are not FDA-approved, and ACOG recommends approved menopausal therapies over compounded versions when an approved option is available. Ask exactly what is being prescribed and why. Read ACOG guidance.
03 Are labs and screenings required?
Yes. Velvet requires labs before and during its BHRT program, and continued participation depends on follow-ups and age-appropriate cancer screening. Your provider determines the specific testing and reviews results in context. One lab value alone is not a complete clinical picture.
04 What delivery options are used?
Velvet does not offer hormone pellets. Ask the team which currently available formulation and route may fit your situation, what the medication costs include, and how it would be monitored. The provider makes the treatment decision after evaluation.
05 How does maintenance membership work?
After completing the first-year program, eligible patients may enter the $249 per month maintenance membership. The membership includes two provider visits per year, an annual lab panel, standard-protocol prescribed medication, and ongoing prescription management. Specialty formulations or extra therapies may cost more. The membership is month to month with 30 days' written notice to cancel; discuss any medication transition with the team.
06 Is this an anti-aging treatment?
No. Velvet does not promote hormone therapy for anti-aging, longevity, or lifespan extension. Treatment is considered for symptoms related to hormone deficiency after clinical evaluation. Results vary, and treatment may be modified or stopped when medically indicated.
